Nearly a quarter of a century ago, as access to information expanded rapidly, the investment landscape began to change in fundamental ways distinguishing sound financial advice, rooted in disciplined analysis, from the constant stream of irrelevant or misleading information became increasingly difficult. What emerged was not a lack of data, but an excess of it, accompanied by growing confusion and distortion.
It was in this context that American journalist, columnist, and author Richard Bernstein published Navigate the Noise: Investing in the New Age of Media and Hype. The book aimed to help investors cut through the noise and identify credible, actionable information in an increasingly crowded and sensationalized media environment.

Even then, the expanding volume of information was already challenging decision-makers. Around the year 2000, global data volumes were estimated at approximately 54.5 exabytes, a scale widely regarded as overwhelming by standards of the time.
Today, the world stands at the center of a full-scale information storm. Global data volumes are estimated to reach 181 zettabytes in 2025, reflecting an exponential increase in the creation, circulation, and amplification of content across digital platforms.
If decision-makers two and a half decades ago needed a lifeline to stay afloat amid rising informational noise, the need for clarity today is far more urgent. The challenge is no longer access to information, but the ability to cut through layered data, interpret an increasingly complex media ecosystem, and deliver informed insights that support sound decision-making through credible, forward-looking recommendations that anticipate risk and protect reputation.
This is the essence of Acculligence’s mission.
We did not choose Navigating the Noise for its rhetorical appeal alone. We chose it as a strategic principle: a compass that guides our work, a rudder that shapes our direction, and a benchmark that anchors trust in an era defined by saturation, speed, and distortion.
In practice, this means we:
- Look beyond headlines to uncover meaning, context, and underlying narratives, rather than relying on volume or quantitative indicators alone.
- Deconstruct the complexity of the media landscape and translate it into clear, actionable insights that enable informed decision-making.
- Strengthen communication strategies through precise, culturally attuned language solutions which align with the expectations of diverse stakeholders.
In a world that grows louder by the day, the ability to navigate the noise is no longer optional. It is a strategic capability. And it is the capability upon which Acculligence is built.
